Buena Park, more to this city than tourists sites
Located in the northwest corner of Orange County, Buena Park is well known for attractions including Knott’s Berry Farm, the Movieland Wax Museum and Medieval Times. However, its residents know that there’s more to this city than tourist sites; they take pride in the Los Coyotes Country Club championship golf course, the 105-acre Ralph B. Clark park and a local history park and museum.
Buena Park was incorporated in 1953 and is governed by a city council whose policies are carried out by the city manager. The city has its own police department and fire protection is provided by the Orange County Fire Authority. It is also home to the Buena Park Library District whose library holds 125,000 volumes.
Buena Park is served by seven different school districts—five elementary and two high schools. They include the Buena Park School District, Fullerton Joint Union High School District, Centralia, Cypress, Magnolia, Savanna and Anaheim Union High School District. Buena Park High School is the only high school within the city limits; many Buena Park high school students attend Kennedy, Savanna, Sunny Hills or Western High Schools. Buena Park students may also apply to attend Oxford Academy, a public school serving grades 7 – 12 that is ranked as one of the top 100 schools in the U.S.
